The Infinite Kind Blog

Today’s Moneydance update brings so much progress that it’s difficult to fit into one blog post, but we’ll do our best. First, this update has massive improvements in online banking and file importing. The QIF import especially is far easier and more capable than it’s ever been, and that’s significant. The online banking infrastructure has been significantly upgraded to be more compatible with more banks and less sensitive to things like bank certificate changes.

In addition, we’ve been polishing a lot of the interface with font improvements, colour tweaking, and generally making Moneydance more beautiful.

Included below the fold is the full list of changes. If you’d like to simply get the update you can download it directly. If you prefer, you can also purchase it through the Mac App Store.

Moneydance 2019

17 January 2019

This will be a year of significant changes. We’re hitting the ground running with Moneydance 2019 - the biggest update to Moneydance in years. If you’d like to get right to it, you can download it now!

We couldn’t be more excited to bring you this major update to Moneydance. Let’s start with the biggest highlights:

  • Dark Mode - Moneydance now integrates smoothly with your darker themed desktop
  • Ridiculously Easy Import - now you can migrate your data from other applications and downloaded files without needing to fuss with a multi-step process or deal with complicated settings. Moneydance analyzes files to figure out the best way to import the data.
  • Since 2015 Moneydance has stored every change made to your files. While these changes didn't take much space, they did result in many small files that could slow down the opening and closing of Moneydance. Moneydance 2019 will automatically compress and consolidate the older history in your data which can reduce file size by a decent amount, but the most significant change is probably the improvement of opening and closing your files.
  • Moneydance now stores security prices relative to their associated currency, which means that updating exchange rates will not affect the prices of non-base-currency securities.
  • Python-based extensions. You can now easily package Python scripts as extensions and have them launched from the main extensions menu.
  • Moneydance now supports high resolution (aka retina, HiDPI, etc.) displays on Windows and Linux, adding to our existing support for them on macOS.
  • Built-in browser (currently in beta) for secure communication with your bank, broker, payment service, or other web service. You can now open an embedded WebKit-based browser to log in to any bank's website. Moneydance will recognize and import any files downloaded from that site. You can even use Python scripting to automate the process, providing an effortless way to sync your accounts. All without needing to upload your passwords and financial information to any third party services. </ul>

As we draw ever closer to Moneydance 2019’s debut, we’ve got one more update to the 2017 line. Please check out 2017.10, now available from our download page as well as on the Mac App Store. This release includes bug fixes and workarounds for misbehaving online banking services. See below or click “more” for the full detailed list of changes.

We are happy to announce that Moneydance 2017.8 is now available for download as well as on the Mac App Store! This version includes multiple improvements and bug fixes.

We’re excited to announce we’ve recently released SyncSpace 6 for iOS - a huge improvement over earlier versions.

If you’re new to SyncSpace - it’s the world’s most capable collaborative drawing app. Express and explore visual ideas together, wherever you are. It is an unlimited canvas, shared in real-time over the internet. SyncSpace is a shared whiteboard, plus a lot more.

Use the nearly limitless canvas to create drawings from scratch; or draw on maps, web pages and photos. Collaborators need not be on the same local network, and there is no limit to the number of participants.

SyncSpace 6 includes much faster drawing, with split screen multitasking and improved AirPlay display. We’ve added support for Apple Pencil and multiple bluetooth styluses - Adonit Jot, Pogo Connect, and Scriba. Palm rest detection has also been significantly improved, preventing accidental marks on the screen when drawing.

Panning and zooming around the canvas is faster and smoother. You can even use two fingers to rotate in any other direction, with snapping to 90 degree angles.

The other big news is that SyncSpace is now free! If you use the real-time collaboration features (creating or modifying shared drawings) there is an in-app subscription (including a 14 day trial).

Purchased an earlier version of SyncSpace? Fear not, as you’ll be grandfathered into the new system and your subscription will be free for life.

SyncSpace 6 is available now for download on the iOS App Store.
